For the barn in Rye it was a new construction pegged post and beam built really old school no nails So we used a PPG formerly (Sikkens) siding stain that is really advanced its 100% alkyd and the only stain that has a 2nd coat self finishing system so no old school varnish that’s likely too peel. As stain deteriorates it can be touched up and spot stained just like paint. Eliminating the possibility of having to completely strip all finish of varnish and underlying stain in the future.
